The tech industry for fashion seems to escalating every season , from Tommy Hilfiger using Instagram last season to create an Instapit and then Neiman Marcus polled followers on Twitter. After this Google is now looking into it by getting into the ‘search now, buy now’ game. Starting this Thursday and going on all for all the fashion weeks, Google is going to experiment with search carousels created and curated by brands, sitting at the top of Google’s usual list of links generated by a computer algorithm. The result that is shown will let the brands themselves manage what consumers see first. For example is someone goes onto Google and searches for ‘Marc Jacobs” it is expected to generate photos from his show, messages from the designer about inspirations for his collection and behind the scenes videos of models and hair and makeup. For the brands that are part of the see-now-buy-now list this fashion week 2016, Google will let people shop for the looks directly from the search page.

Having designers play a role in what people see in searches “brings fashion week to life in a new way,” said Cameron McKnight, a product manager at Google.

Google has teamed up with former Maxim editor and street style pioneer Kate Lanphear for this new search look. For this they had to sign up with different brands to have them on board and so far they have signed more than 50 brands. Some of these include Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Christopher Kane, Prada, Burberry and Hermès. The content can be found by typing ‘Fashion Week” or “designer name + Fashion Week”. The brands will be able to post text, images and videos through an experimental Google product search, where approved users can communicate directly on Google. Once they have published, their posts appear in the search results that are related to the publisher which can then be shared on social networks. Fashion week 2016 will change a lot of things in the fashion industry and designers are even creating some fashion history

Google’s new attempt will definitely make the company competitive in wooing the fashion industry, pitting it against such platforms as Instagram which is known as the fashion’s friend. During February’s fashion weeks Instagram accounted for 97% of social media engagement. What we are thinking is after seeing September’s social media engagement will Google have changed that all that? Fashion Week 2016 is going to see a lot of firsts this year for sure!
