Ivy Park – Beyonce Launches her Activewear Line
Ever since I remember Beyonce was one of my favourite singers while growing up and still is. The gorgeous Beyonce has now announced her new activewear label; Ivy Park. Topshop has been a personal favourite of Beyonce and her Ivy Park’s partner is the Arcadia Group, it is in collaboration with Topshop owner Sir Philip Green. The line will be sold in 50 countries at 12 retail chains and the collection will be available in stores on April 14th and this is the same date that the products will be available online as well.
The athleisure collection uses subtle colors and simple silhouettes and you can just imagine when Beyonce and Topshop come together what the outcome can be. The singer has stuck to a very classic colour scheme of grey, white and black with a few pops of color; you will see majority of it would be blue. Beyonce’s daughter’s name is Blue Ivy, we sure do see some inspiration from her daughter’s name for the brand. She has designed a 200-piece sportswear collection that has everything from leggings, crop tops, sweatshirts, jackets, socks, sandals and bathing suits. (Prices will range from $30 to $200.)
If anyone can motivate women to dance and jump, it’s Beyonce and with her new activewear line she is bound to inspire another cultural and physical movement. She is her own best advertisement for hitting the gym and staying fit and this is exactly what will inspire people to wear Ivy Park designs while they work out. Beyonce has released a short video to promote the collection, in which she is standing in the rain, stretches, jumps rope and is looking like noone you would have seen in your gym. She has also launched her new website which is: www.ivypark.com
“I think having a child and growing older made me get more into health and fitness. I realized that there wasn’t an athletic brand for women like myself, or my dancers, or my friends”
“Nothing aspirational for girls like my daughter. I thought of Ivy Park as an idyllic place for women like us.”
“There’s an invisible underlining in our garments that sucks you in and lifts your bottom so that when you’re on a bike, or when you’re running or jumping, you don’t feel that extra reverb. And there are little things like where a top hits under your arms and all of the areas on a woman’s body we’re constantly working on. I was so specific about the things I feel I need in a garment as a curvy woman and just as a woman in general,”
“So you feel safe and covered but also sexy. Everything lifts and sucks in your waist and enhances the female form. We mixed in some features found in men’s sportswear that I wished were interpreted into girls’ clothes,”
Why is it called Ivy Park?
The singer’s lucky number is 4, the date of her birthday, Jay Z’s birthday, and their wedding anniversary is all 4 and it appears subtly throughout; the name Ivy from her daughters name Blue Ivy is also inspired by the Roman numeral IV. It can’t better than that, what an amazing link for the perfect name!
“I called it Ivy Park because a park is our commonality. We can all go there; we’re all welcomed. It’s anywhere we create for ourselves. For me, it’s the place that my drive comes from. I think we all have that place we go to when we need to fight through something, set our goals and accomplish them.”
