Met Gala 2016 Red Carpet Looks

The biggest names in Fashion, designers, artists and celebrities gathered together in Manhattan Monday evening for the Met Gala, possibly the year’s most exclusive, extravagant and biggest fashion event there is. The annual ball which kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s yearly Costume Institute exhibit attracts just about all the Hollywood favourites. It is known to bring out the boldest gowns and looks and this year because of the exhibition’s theme: “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology” (exploring the relationship between clothes created by hand versus the machine) the Met Gala 2016 red carpet looks were very progressive.

As expected from the theme which is a very technology based theme a lot of metallics very seen, some as a full gown and some had metallic accents paired with a slick-backed hairstyle. Model Alessandra Ambrosio and the Kardashians’ youngest Kylie Jenner along with Kim Kardashian West were among those who were seen in a full metallic silver gown.

The singer Rita Ora was also seen in a metallic grey, however hers was feathered. Zac Posen designed a gown for Claire Danes that went perfectly with the theme as her gown was glowing, and it literally was as her gown could light up.

The exhibition has talks about how the fashion industry has evolved over the years from the invention of a sewing machine to mass production making fast fashion brands like Zara and H&M bigger and bigger. Ciara was spotted in a gown by H&M during the Met Gala 2016. Apple’s chief design officer Jonathan Ive joined Anna Wintour as co-chair of the event and the famous ‘Vogue’ editor-in-chief Anna Wintour looked her regal self in a simple cream gown by Chanel.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore and 18th century inspired men’s wear and said that this event is like a master class in fashion “Sometimes you get an A and sometimes, it’s a pass-or-fail situation”. There were some extremes as we saw on one hand Lady Gaga wearing a bustier, platform shoes with fishnet stockings and no pants and on the other hand Kate Hudson wearing a white gown that looked like it was constructed entirely from pieces of plexiglass.

The major celebrity arrival was Beyonce, the hottest talk in town right now having just released her new album “Lemonade” walked in on the red carpet in a nude coloured latex gown by Givenchy which had metallic embellishments on them and showed off her famous curves.

Off all the people that attended and were spotted on the red carpet at the Met Gala 2016, here are a bunch of the evening’s most note worthy looks:

Amazing! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a completely different topic but it has pretty much the same page layout and design. Outstanding choice of colors!
